Lightex 6% AFFF is a fire suppressant used to extinguish flammable liquid fires such as fuel fires. AFFF is often used in shipboard and shore facility fire suppression systems, fire fighting vehicles, and at fire training facilities. This synthetic foam has a low viscosity and spreads rapidly across the surface of most hydrocarbon fuels. A water film forms beneath the foam, which cools the liquid fuel, stopping the formation of flammable vapors. Ultralight material 75–95% of the volume consists of void spaces. Very high porosity. High compression strengths combined with good energy absorption characteristics. Thermal conductivity is low. High strength.
